Brooks Ayola

I have found a great photography site by Brooks Ayola: blog.ayola.com If you want to see some professional portrait photography, you’ll find it there. Moreover you’ll have a chance to see how to deal with lighting and what equipment to use ’cause the author records all setups. Well, of course not everybody gets to use a studio, models and pro lighting, but still you’ll find there some really good tips. Just go there and test it :-)

The Brothers Grimm

Posted in Uncategorized by Abe on the November 8th, 2005

I have just seen “The Brothers Grimm”. It is rather a light movie, colourful, with some interesting special effects (although I did not like the artificially generated wolf). It is definitely not a movie for small children. There is plenty of, rather, abstractive and black humour. When you see the scene with a cat you will know exactly what I mean. I also found the film quite post-modern in an interesting way. Different tales criss-cross throughout the whole movie.
Well, maybe it is not a story that will have a serious influence on our lives :) but it made me laugh a few times and I guess it was not a waste of time.
If you want to know more about the movie, read reviews, goofs and all the stuff go to IMDB.

Lovely Evening

Yesterday we went out with our friends. First we saw a movie, then we had a couple of drinks in a restaurant. I do not have much time for leisure these days so it was a great occasion to talk with mates, to see how they’re doing and all the stuff. We had fun and I was laughing all the time. Well, everything seemed to be perfect but… We left the car a few steps from the restaurant. When we were approaching it I noticed a guy standing strangely by our car. Guess what! He was having a few moments of relief while pissing on the car!!! I could not believe it. He was messing up the car in the city centre and with people walking around. I sad: “Hey dude, what are you doing?” He looked surprised, especially when it turned out it was my car, but did not stop! He mumbled something about being sorry and that it was an emergency. My girlfriend was really pissed off but what could I do?! Maybe I should have hit him or, I don’t know, pissed on him??!! The guy left with a girl repeating he was sorry. Well, praise the Lord he did not shit on the hood!

Day Sleeper

Posted in Uncategorized by Abe on the November 3rd, 2005

Damn mornings! I hate getting up early! I have noticed a sort of regularity. The more I sleep, the more sleep I need!? It is horrible. When I have to wake up really early I am uncouncious later the whole day. I just wander aimlessly trying to find a place and time to have some sleep. Even if I manage to lie down somewhere a while, there is always something disturbing. It is, after all, a middle of the day. You know, a telephone call, an unexpected visit or work. So again I get up and try to solve the problem quickly so I could go back to bed. Certainly I cannot deal with it effectively ’cause I am not able to think normally, to focus etc. I envy people who need only a few hours of sleep a day. Sometimes even 8 hours is not enough for me! I tried coffee but it somehow washed out magnesium out of me so much that I had visit a cardiologist ’cause my heart started beating irregularly! For the time being I try to get through the week and have some good sleep at weekends.

I wish I could join the conference. It would be rather hard for me to go to San Fransico for a couple of days. Nevertheless I wanted to say I support everything concerning open source publishing. Good Luck!

Rainy Days

Posted in Uncategorized by Abe on the October 29th, 2005

The weather is grey. The light is rather cold, wan and weak. It has been raining all day. Some single souls walking in the streets with umbrellas. Car lights reflected in puddles. I am not sad, just a bit slower and more melancholic than normally. I’m trying to inhale this moisture. Rain always cleans up the atmosphere. I’m walking and watching wet world. When I get home, I’ll be observing rain drops on window glass. Maybe I will take some shots of water dropping on my balcony or I will lie in bed and read a book in the warmness and softness of my duvet :) . I wish I had a fireplace :) I like such lazy and melancholic days as this one. I can stay at home and have no remorse for the world outside. Well, but not too long!

Friends

Sometimes when I am alone I sit in my room and wait for my secret friends. When I turn the light off they know I need them. They know that I ivite them. I just close my eyes and listen to the silence. After a while I hear some noises. Somebody shuffles behind the door. Something scratches a window glass. At the moment I know for sure they answered my call and that they are already with me. Small green dragon is always the first one to show up. He sits on the arm of my chair, lights up a big brown cigar and says: “How’re the things going, buddy?”. “Well, quite all right. Still smoking that shit, pal?” - I say. “Want some?” - the dragon smiles to me. “Yes, gladly” - I take the cigar and inhale. We just sit, smoke and wait for others. Then we usually have a party…

Park

Yesterday we went to a park. We took a dog and the camera and went to spend some time together. I thought it would be good to take some pics in the autumn. You know, colorful and a bit melancholic. The CMOS sensor in my camera (Canon 10D) results in gorgeous photographs. My dog is a black labrador so I thought of a nice composition of a dog running and playing around fallen red and yellow leaves. We had a day off and we could sleep longer the day. I think we got up at noon. We had a breakfast and not long after that we were supposed to leave. My girl said she coludn’t go out without make-up. When she was finally ready the sun was already high. Days are shorter now, so when reached the park there was not enough light to take pics.
